# timeout command

The timeout BASIC program sets the time (in seconds) to automatically
 log off due to inactivity.

## Syntax

```
 timeout {timeout.value}
```

## Parameter(s)

| timeout.value | Indicates the number of seconds to wait. If the timeout.value variable is set to zero, the timeout waiting feature is turned off. |
| --- | --- |

## Description

The following applies to the timeout command:

- If no timeout value is provided, then the current value displays.

- A timeout value of 0 disables the timeout. This state is the default.

- If the line sits at an input for the timeout period, the command specified in the trap functionality is executed. The default is to log off.
