# Correlative

Correlatives are used in attribute 8 of the dictionary
item being processed by AQL or the Update processor.

There are many processing codes that can be called from
correlative on both file-defining items and attribute-defining items.

These processing codes are invoked prior to selection, sorting
or displaying and always prior to the processing associated with the
dictionary attribute known as output-conversion.
